Film Focus: By providing a broad overview of the biblical patriarchs, this video briefly summarizes each of their lives. It offers a good introduction to the chapter which can get the students thinking about the connectedness of the narratives.

Text Focus: Pages 112-119

Discussion Questions:

  1. Who are the patriarchs discussed in this video? Briefly tell each of their stories.
  2. Why do Jews, Christians, and Muslims all refer to Abraham as “Father Abraham”?
  3. The covenant God makes with Abraham marks the beginning of God’s people. Discuss ways in which this is true and ways in which the there is still development to come in the later biblical narrative.
  4. The video discusses that Jacob was a man of both great strengths and great weaknesses, using your Bible find at least one text which provides an example of his strengths and one example of his weaknesses.
