Film Focus: This video discusses the Hebrew practice of honoring the Lord’s name. It discusses Moses receiving God’s name directly from God himself and explains that how the Hebrew divine name has been translated and used in the English language.

Discussion Questions:

  1. What is the Shema? Where can it be found in the Bible? When do the Jews pray this prayer? Do Catholics have any prayer that is similar in importance?
  2. What does EHYEH mean? How is it different from YHWH?
  3. How do the Israelites honor the sacred nature of the Divine name? Is God’s name reverenced by our society today? Give examples.
  4. Why does LORD appear all in caps when we read our Bibles today? Find an example in your Bible.
